Will this fit in an overhead on the airplane

My granddaughter is going to be 11. Should I get her the adult bag or will the children’s be big enough for her?
The kid's bag is a decent size. An adult could use it for a day or two trip with light packing. The adult bag would be a 2-3 day trip. It is not dramatically larger.
I ordered an adult weekend bag and it didn't have a zipper on top that I thought it was going to have. These have the zipper on top. I was very disappointed.
